About katherine Bryan

Principal Flute
At the age of just 21, Katherine was appointed Principal Flute with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra - a position she holds today in addition to appearing as concerto soloist with leading orchestras worldwide. She a regular Guest Principal with the Philharmonia Orchestra, and has also played Guest Principal with the London Philharmonic, BBC Symphony, BBC Scotttish, BBC Philharmonic, Royal Northern Sinfonia, Royal Philharmonic, Hallé, Seattle Symphony, Swedish Radio and London Symphony orchestras.
Recording artist

Katherine plays as a concerto and recital soloist around the world. She currently has four albums on worldwide release. A winner of the prestigious Audi Music Competition, Katherine studied at Chetham's School of Music, Manchester and won a full scholarship to study flute at the Juilliard School, New York. She was a finalist in the BBC Young Musician for three consecutive competitions. She premiered a new concerto "The White Road", written for her by Scottish composer Martin Suckling in 2017. Her new album, “Silver Voice”, recorded with Bramwell Tovey and the orchestra of Opera North, with Chandos Records is released in the Autumn of 2017.

lecturer & Teacher

A keen and gifted educator, Katherine is a lecturer in flute at Chetham’s School of Music and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and launched her International Flute Course in 2017, welcoming students from around the world to a 5 day intensive course in Scotland. She tutors for both the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland. Katherine regularly gives masterclasses in educational institutions around the world, including her alma mater, the Juilliard School in New York.
